WOP Christmas: Nev's Book!
Christmas is a time for a lot of things....toasting the year, feasting, relaxing next to a cosy fire with a glass of something warming.....and the like.
For others, it's a time to milk the cash cow and get some cash in. Nev is plugging this - his new book from WOP Publishing (£49.99 rrp) .
''The book is a 'celebration' in it's own rights.'' Neville said. ''It's all about my kind of people, the hard working trainspotters up and down the country tirelessly and in all weathers, going out looking for train numbers. What bravery!''
Here is a preview of what to expect should you want to purchase it.....
The cover...nice!
''Nice stance on this fellow, quite casual but at the same time - breathtakingly focused.''
''This chap is missing all the action going on behind him! I bet he kicked himself, she looked a beauty too.''
''Lovely long platform this....must be offering this lucky chap quite the spectacle!''
''Strictly for the foolhardy spotter this one - the risks some of 'em take!''

Neville's DVD Review
Our Nev' has returned from a recent car boot tour of the UK. He managed to pick up some excellent DVD'S and is now offering us his unique thoughts as he reviews them!
Title: Trains Of Yesteryear.Car Boot Fair: Swansea Baths.
''Nice one this to start us off...I liked the cover and the smell of plastic. The video itself plays nicely and there are plenty of BR era stock to keep me happy!'' 8/10
Title: Kent Coast.Car Boot Fair: Bodmin, behind the bottle bank.
''Funny I should find this in Cornwall! This is a good one, as I live in Kent. So I have a personal affection for this beast. Nice Driver POV footage, commentary is a bit dull and boring - hence the full score! 10/10
Title: 100 Years Of British trains. Car Boot Fair: Kings Lynn, Two Cocks Car Park.
''What's there not to like about this? A century or 100 years at least of steam! Have It! Lovely.'' 9/10
Title: The Lost Railways. Car Boot Fair: Bournemouth, near the paint factory.
''This one made me quite whimsical and sad, thinking about lost routes and indeed - lives! I did weep for them, I really did. Very sad. 6/10
Title: Buses, Trams and Trolleybuses.Car Boot Fair: Kettering Library Car Park.
''Interesting one this - I didn't think I'd like it as there are no trains.... trams are a close second mind. Don't like trolleybuses, they don't know what they want to be. Bus or tram??? I don't like indecision, or at least I don't think I do. Nevertheless - a good watch on a rainy afternoon.'' 7/10
Title: The World's Greatest Railway Journeys: Norway & Finland.Car Boot Fair: Kidderminster, just by the toilets.
''Unopened and unwatched - but I do like the plastic wrap! I will get round to watching it, but my DVD player is broke''. 5/10 (for the wrapping)
Title: Mr Bean's Holiday.Car Boot Fair: Birkenhead, next to the bus station (great!)
'' I'm not sure what drew me to this one, it has nothing to do with trains although he does get on one in the film. One of those big American ones, you know? Basically the character is a bumbling nerdy oaf.....I like him''. 9/10
Thanks Nev! I dare say he'll do another review special when he returns from another car boot fair!

Christmas WOP: At Home With Neville - Again!
Following on from our recent discovery of a vintage recording of 'At Home With Neville', we have unearthed another episode! This is somewhat more amazing, as this slice of life with Neville called 'A Date With Disappointment' stars our other WOP regulars, Art Bear and Kevin Ketley. Incredible...!
They all have aged so well, especially Bear it has to said.
In this one Neville agrees to meet Art Bear and Kevin in the pub, he seems estranged in these surroundings as he has only been in the pub once for some peanuts and a Babycham years ago! Events unfold as he meets Anna, a young girl from Latvia....... What will happen?
Tune in and see!
Are these the only two survivng episodes of the series? Who knows.....*
*Possibly, yes.

Neville Cheestring Visits Deal
First our Nev' went to Wye station to see what electrically hauled gems were on offer, now he's in Deal! You can't keep him away from his official WOP train spotting duties. However, a truly unexpected find was to be had at the station. As he got closer to the station gates, his working eye widened in boyish delight. A collection of exquisite Pullman coaches were in the station, presumably part of a holiday special. It doesn't matter why they were there - Nev just ran to the platform and whipped out his camera to record this truly historic gem.
Neville said ''I just couldn't believe my luck! A lovely train of Pullman's in classic maroon and cream livery. Stuff of legend! It's just a pity some small person ran in to my closing shot as she was vanishing into the distance. A real pity. ''
Even More....!
It didn't end there either, although perhaps it should have. When Neville got back to home base, he found an old London Routemaster bus parked outside the railway station.

Neville stuttered ''Look at her, all on her own waiting for her next load of passengers. They will never come though, what is she doing out of London??! Sheer madness...and disorder. I don't like it. I can't help but feel sorry for her......''
Never mind, Neville....never mind.

Things That Make Nev Go Hmmmmm! #2 Trains!!!
Well, they had to be there. We're running down the list of things that make Nev drop his flask, and trains have got to get a special mention.
Nev says ''What is it about these beauties that capture my heart? Could it be the delightful play of the whistle as it goes through a tunnel and emerging in it's full glory the other side? Or is it the steam that hangs in the air and the exciting smells that penetrate the senses....or is it that I just love them! I don't know, nor care....give me a picture of a train now!''
Erm, okay Nev, here you go..... calm down a bit.

Neville Cheestring Reports....From Wye Railway Station, Kent.
This is the first of possibly a series of reports - of our Nev' reporting on locations around the country. Kent would be the most easiest, and he will more than likely stick to that to be honest....
To kick us off, Nev went down to Wye near Ashford, to sample the scones and see if the visitor centre was open. It wasn't, but he's not one to give up on a quest - he managed to video this 'beauty' pulling out of the railway station.....

Into The Station!
Well, you've seen the teaser trailer...haven't you? Well you must! But here is the full 'steamy' movie for all you Nev-fans! As you can imagine, our hero was in his element, and is still recalling his thoughts of the day out on the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway in Kent.
''This was one of the best days of my flask filled life,'' Nev states. ''Imagine it...all that steam, tea towel sets and visitor centres.....oh my word, you can smell the joy''.
Indeed you can...almost. So here it is in glorious Moggyscope!
