WOP: 1950's style!

We had a good old dig in the WOP attic and found this lovely bit of vintage televisual advertising! The much loved (and soon taken off the shelves) World Of Poot Hand & Facial Cream. Ah, to be back in the glorious past again before the interweb and fast trousers....

Head To Head with Artbear

Another vintage find this week! The long running chat show from the 50's came to an abrupt end with this special interview with our very own furry artist Artbear. Hosted by Christmas Bear (Senior), this programme ran for an incredible 74 episodes interviewing the likes of Charles Laughton, Sir Laurence Olivier and even royalty - Martin Luther King.

Ahead of it's time, and with such a warm and witty host - this programme will go down in history as a landmark and pioneering piece of television.

However, five minutes with Artbear proved to be enough!

Enjoy this wonderful piece of history!

Christmas WOP: Carnivale Oyster

More digging into the archives this week Pooters! We have unearthed a very old reel of film dating from 1919, with footage of the Whitstable Oyster Festival!

No Kevin Ketley of course - but delight in this vintage bit of film.

Pay particular attention to the comic antics of the ice cream seller on his bike! They really don't make them like this anymore.

Christmas WOP: Grim Up North

Well it's been quite a week or so here at WOP Archives, we've unearthed some vintage recordings with 'At Home With Neville' and now we've come across this classic tv soap opera from the 1960's; 'Grim Up North'.

This was considered quite ground breaking in it's day for its depiction of harsh northern stereotypes. So let's travel back in time a bit and soak up the smoke filled snugs of the pubs and the corner shop gossiping as we take a look at this classic episode.

Look out for a cameo appearance from Artbear!

More From Norman Cheestring!

Here he is - grandfather of our Neville in full technicolour glory and that...
Neville passed to us some vintage footage of the time when Norman's hair was still dark brown yet his facial hair had turned white! This is a rare condition called Haventgotawhitewigis. For more information on this terrible condition, go to your nearest chemist.
Take it away Norm!
