Babbington Poot - Travels!

This week our own Babbington is off on a national tour of the UK, taking with him his trademark charm and potatoes to wow the natives.

One wonders what delightful WOP related imagery he'll bring back with him!

In the meantime, here he is on his travels......

Ask Neville....

ASK NEVILLE

Our resident train specialist, Neville Cheestring has started his own advice column at WOP. This first story begins with Milly, 22, a duck from Herpington. This is her story....

''My hubby doesn't treat me nicely at all, he ignores me! Sometimes I wish I hadn't married him. But then one day I met Alfred Womble at the bus stop and now I can't stop thinking about him....''

''Even on the rare occassions he does kiss me and pay me attention, my mind is on Alfred...''

''I am driven to distraction, what can I do Neville?''

Neville Says: 'Well, this is a pickle of a doozy and no mistake. I feel you need to clear the decks with your husband first before even thinking of embarking on another relationship or affair. Alfred clearly is a fantasy, a beacon of light if you will in a loveless marriage. You need to first find out if Alfred feels the same about you before making any decisions. I like collecting cheese labels, do you?'

More interfering in people's lives next time Woppers!

Babbington's Birthday!

.

Well would you believe it, yesterday was my birthday!

I would just like to thank all those people who made it such a wonderful day.... Hmm... yeah, so like I said, I'd like to, but... well... I can only assume that there must have been a postal strike and also a great deal of traffic on the roads or summat, judging by the turn-out!

Still, on the plus side, I was fortunate to receive literally 'some' cards!

Anyway, a special shout-out has to go to Neville, who contacted me on the eve of my Birthday, as he was due to engage in a hectic schedule of bus-spotting duties on my birthday itself. Don't worry, Nev - I made a good job of polishing off a bottle of red and a whole chocolate cake, sat on my lonesome in the central corridor that connects the North and South Wings here at WOP HQ.

Neville was full of beans for the duration of our conversation.
I can imagine the smell must have been quite stifling.

And, thanks to the wonders of modern technology, I am able to share with you, dear readers, the delightful gifts which our ever-aromatic buck-toothed anti-hero so very kindly sent my way. Even the packaging doubled up as a rather fetching and snazzy hat, as can be seen in the picture at the top of this post!

Nev - I still remain, quite simply, lost for words!

Who would have thought that Nev's Gran was such a looker?!
And with such an illustrious card-modelling career, too!

I can't wait to listen to this when I get a quiet moment
... and a cassette player!

This one, too!

Not sure what he was getting at with these...
but much appreciated, all the same!

WOP-approved, naturally!
For more quality merchandise, check out WOP International!

And finally...

Nothing says 'Happy Birthday' quite like a good bit
of Spy Mission apparatus!

WOP Reaches It's 61st Post!

Yes - it's true - WOP has reached the golden milstone of 61 posts! Well, 62 now including this one. Oh heck, I didn't think this one through...
Never mind.....
;)

London Fashion Week

With London Fashion Week well under way, the talk of the town is 'what not to wear'.

This is a very exciting time, obviously, and it will be very interesting to see how this year's hottest fashions make their way onto the highstreet.

Clearly, this chap is well ahead of the game, seen here strutting his stuff in my local shopping precinct early this morning.

Note the complementary colours between jumper, shoes, socks... and carrier bag! This year's buzz word - accessorise!

Thoughts of Mr. Kent

Something of an 'in-joke', this one...
Certainly Mitch and the Bumpkin will appreciate it!

It's amazing what they stock in Aaaaasda these days.
Not exactly Golden Hammers - but it's all publicity, I guess!

It always was all about the pink!

And for the full range...

Wurzels, Bumpkins and Blackburn

Good grief, does it get any better than this? - All the classics in one great remix!

Surely, we need add no further introduction. Proper job!

Enjoy!

Barry's Book Corner

This month, our intrepid book boffin - Barry Bitumen - is out to entertain... and impress!

Having commandeered the South Wing pantry here at World Of Poot HQ, he has been rummaging deeply through his arsenal of cookery books... and can now happily recommend "Finger Food" - one of many editions in the Austrailian Women's Weekly series of no-frills, easy-cook, cook books. Should you wish to follow in Barry's culinary footsteps, this volume can be found - where else but?! - in the oven:

Clearly, this one speaks for itself. However, Barry did ask that readers also admire his collection of freshly-picked cucumbers, adding "Get a load of these beauties! They'll be perfect for my 'cucumber rounds with herbed cream cheese'... that's on page 77!"

Wise words indeed, Barry. We wish you the best of luck with your endeavours and look forward to your glowing recommendation next month.

More Things You Find! (Random Objects: #5)

Once again on an autumnal walk in the country today, I've found amongst the nature another strange growth in a field. Someone has planted a 'Wheat Crunchies' seed and is now thriving! I wander if our 'farmer' planned the flavour of the crisps, or left it to nature?

The Things You Find! (this could possibly evolve into a children's book at a later date).

Babbington Imposter Revealed!

The WOP Police have been working tirelessly to get hold of the vandal that has been erm... vandalising out streets nationwide. And yesterday, he was caught in the act!

We can reveal that the imposter was Frank Dolby, 46 from Spittle.

The reasons for doing this are still unclear, but he was seen been carried away in the police van screaming 'I did it all for art...'.

So who is 'art'? Perhaps he was avenging someone..who knows, but we're glad to say that it's all over now and there will be never any more news of the Babbington Vandalism again...

Ever.

Welcome To World Of Poot Dating!!

Norman Cheestring Passes Away

Its' not all fun and irrelevant topics on WOP, sad news has reached us that Norman Cheestring, grandfather of Neville, has passed away. He was 83.

Neville said 'He was a great man, he died in the two wars and still worked down the pits to bring home the bacon'.

He also went on to say 'With this passing away, it made me realise that I ought to do more with my life, and the time I have. So I'm going to join an internet dating agency right away and find myself a woman of sorts'.

Out of this, the boffins at WOP have decided there's a gap in the market as there simply aren't enough internet dating sites out there, so we shall start WOP Dating! Stay tuned....

Oh yeah, Norman will be buried on Tuesday.
